P90X is a 3 month program
The new Insanity Workout by Shaun T is comparable to P90X in many ways. What are the differences in the two?
P90X is a 3 month program. There are three different parts. There are 12 workouts and its a whole body workout where you train 6 days a week. You spend 45 minutes to an hour or more lifting weights, using resistance bands and pull up bars. You will be working major muscle groups and then taking a cool down week where your body recovers from the "muscle confusion". You will get leaner by gaining muscle and loosing fat. It is said that you can lose 20 lbs in 60 days with P90X.
Insanity Workout DVDs are about the same price as P90X. You will be doing more cardio and plyometrics so you will not need as many pieces of equipment you just use your own body weight. They both require a very strenuous workout where you have a cool down period to recover. It also includes difficult variations of push ups and squats and you will gain muscle using Insanity it is not just a cardio workout. It is more of a rigorous cardio/ab/overall leaning out program. There are no weights in this program.
You could use them both together as a great cardio/strength training routine. A pro to Insanity is that there is no equipment needed. All in all if you're in a hurry and want to lose fat, tone up and gain a little more muscle mass, you should go with Insanity. If you want to gain some muscle mass and get ripped while losing body fat, and you are not in a hurry then go with P90X.
The main point to both of these programs is to follow the strict diet that they include. This is crucial to both of the programs.
